Ask Larry:
Question: What do you know about the HCG diet for weight loss? Is it safe?
Larry’s Response: The HCG diet is SUPPOSED to provide a balanced amount of carbohydrates, protein, and fat. I don’t know how they have determined the balance. Yet the balance is basically irrelevant because the diet only allows 500 calories per day. That’s near the starvation level.
The HCG is supposed to suppress the appetite so the user is not aware of their starving condition. Reports claim that it works. The HCG is not taking off the weight. That’s being accomplished by eating practically nothing. Anyone who only eats 500 calories per day will drop pounds quickly.
Most of us consume 2000 to 2500 calories per day. The hcg diet cuts that by a large amount. This is the one stumbling block for me in recommending or supporting HCG dieting.
