Erectile dysfunction (ED, “male impotence “) is defined as “a sexual dysfunction characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance (See Wikipedia).“
Once a condition that got very little public attention has become almost commonplace in the past decade. Instead of locking the problem behind a door or ignoring it altogether, today’s man (and woman) are confronting the issue head-on.
Like so many issues, this one began to gain public acceptance when a form of “treatment” emerged – along with an overwhelming opportunity for the sales of that treatment. Some estimate the numbers of men afflicted – all or in part – at somewhere in the 30 million area. When there is a possibility for sales to 30 million unhappy men and their partners, there is more than enough reason to take the condition out of the closet.
Of course, there are those who bemoan this turn of events – moving a highly private dysfunction into the limelight – just to make a few dollars. While the revenue side surely exists, is it not also of great importance to people to be able to enjoy the sexual side of their nature? Why would it be better for ED to remain a hidden, silent issue? The benefits abound and it is inappropriate to look down on the events merely because some people are profiting financially from it.
One thing that makes a great difference to men with this problem – it is usually correctable. Instead of ignoring ED or hiding in shame, men receive the courage to seek help. They can regain their vitality – and their partners have a renewed connectivity.
Viagra – and its cousins – are at the forefront of treatment options for ED. These drugs often resolve the problems. But, not always. Do not despair becasue there are other roads to successfully overcoming ED. I’ve published a few options on our website. Let me know what you think.
