What Is It?: Lorazepam is a medicine used to relieve anxiety. It is also prescribed for a number of other situations.
How To Use: Lorazepam is compounded as a capsule, and oral liquid, or a flavored treat. It is usually given by mouth, one to three times daily. It may be given with or without food.
Possible Side Effects: Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, tiredness, weakness, dry mouth, diarrhea, upset stomach or changes in appetite.
Warning: If any of these occur call the doctor immediately; difficulty walking, persistent fine tremors, fever, difficulty breathing or swallowing, severe skin rash, yellowing of the eyes or irregular heartbeat
Storage: Keep in the original container. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Capsules and tablets may be stored at room temperature. Some liquids should be stored in the refrigerator (see the prescription label.) Store all medicines away from excess heat and moisture. Do NOT store in the bathroom.
Note: If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.
